There's No Place Like Home...
Coalition members point out that when surveyed seniors repeatedly say that they would rather receive help in their own homes from family and community service providers than be relocated to a long term care facility or nursing home. Coalition members also point out that the cost of helping to maintain aging seniors in their own homes is far less than placing them in a long term care facility.
One of the Coalition's goals for the new legislative session is to convince the Rendell Administration and the Legislators to return the focus of the state lottery to funding programs that provide the essential community and in home support services necessary to permit nearly 100,000 seniors to remain in their own homes for as long a possible.
