There's No Place Like Home...
The lives of more than 80,000 of the Commonwealth’s senior citizens are supported and transformed annually through in home services funded by PennCare, a program administered by Pennsylvania's 52 Area Agencies on Aging. Many other seniors receive services through senior centers, adult day care programs, meals on wheels, and medicaid sponsored personal care services in the home.
Unfortunately, public funding for the PennCare program, through the Pennsylvania Lottery, has not kept pace with inflation. As a result many thousands of seniors are left waiting for urgently needed services.
Some individuals have suggested that many seniors who are waiting for in home services do not have urgent or critical needs.
